Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes the arteries and improves blood flow by preventing the movement of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle cells. Valsartan, on the other hand, is an angiotensin II receptor type 1 (AT1) antagonist that reduces blood pressure by inhibiting vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion. When combined in a single tablet, amlodipine and valsartan provide a dual mechanism of action that synergistically reduces blood pressure more effectively than each drug alone. This combination is known to be particularly effective in treating hypertension.
Composition
Each film coated tablet contains:
- Valsartan: 160 mg
- Amlodipine: 5 mg
