Betamethasone, a potent synthetic corticosteroid, primarily reduces inflammation by inhibiting the production and release of various inflammatory mediators. It suppresses the activation of immune cells, downregulates the expression of inflammatory genes, and reduces the synthesis of pro-inflammatory proteins. Salicylic acid, on the other hand, is a keratolytic agent that works by softening and loosening the epidermis, the outermost layer of the skin. It facilitates the shedding of dead skin cells and helps in the removal of hyperkeratotic plugs commonly found in certain skin conditions.
